A baby’s firststeps prove quite exciting for most members of the family. It is a much awaited event looked forward to with great joy and anticipation. Nonetheless, it is rather unfortunate that the pleasure of walking stops within a few years’ time.  Gone are the days when children walked up to school, played outdoor games, buzzing with activities both at school and at home, burning those unwanted extra calories.  However, in the current scenario, with the development of modern technology, children and adults alike lead hectic lifestyles.  Overwhelmed  by electronic gadgets, adults remain glued to their computers in the workplace, while children spend time watching  television ,  surfing the internet (read details about what is internet), playing computer/ video games, binging on calorie laden unhealthy snacks, turning them to couch potatoes.  These factors are mainly responsible for the rising menace of obesity in the modern world, leading to the onset of multiple health problems at an early age.  Long forgotten is the pleasure and delight of something as simple as walking that can go a long way in promoting a healthy body, mind and spirit..

Although there are numerous health, mental and spiritual benefits of walking, it is extremely important to consult a physician before embarking on a routine programme, as certain conditions may require some precautions to be to be taken, so as to avoid any sort of health complications.
